Principal's Message

August 18, 2016

Dear Parents,

I would like to welcome everyone to the 2016-2017 school year!  I thoroughly enjoyed my first year as the principal of Colerain Middle School and I am excited for the new things that Colerain has to offer.

First, CMS has decided to become a Making Middle Grades Work (MMGW) building.  Part of this new initiative involves the implementation of 5 Focus Teams.  Last year the staff identified the critical needs of the building and from there formed 5 teams/committees that combined our needs with the 10 Key Practices of MMGW.  Our committees this year are Parent Involvement, Student Engagement, Guidance/Advisory, Extra Help and School Climate.  Our committee leaders are currently developing goals and action plans that will help us work towards improving student achievement.  Once these goals are developed I will get them posted on the building website so our parents can be well informed on what is happening at Colerain Middle School.

Next, the district has adopted a new Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy.  This allows for students to bring in their own technology to use for instructional purposes during the school day.  Last year our teachers received significant professional development in which they learned about many new instructional tools and strategies that can be used in the classroom to enhance instruction.  I fully expect our staff to embrace this new policy and use technology as an additional resource to promote engagement in the classroom.

Last, I spent the past year getting to know the staff of Colerain Middle School and was very impressed with the efforts our teachers and classified staff made to make sure your student receives a well rounded education.  Our teachers have spent and continue to spend a significant amount of time focusing on the social, emotional and academic growth of your student and I am looking forward to continuing those efforts so that we can help your child reach their fullest potential.

If you ever have any questions feel free to contact me on my direct line 513-385-8490 ext. 4804 or email me at estyles@nwlsd.org.  I encourage you to sign up for our parent communication emails as well as twitter so you can be updated on upcoming events and important information that relates to Colerain Middle School.  Directions are posted on the building website.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Styles
