NWLSD is Offering a Free Parenting Class

10/18/2022

Empowering Parents. Transforming Families.

Northwest Local School District (NWLSD) is partnering with Village Empowerment Community Services (VECS) organization for a fourth school year, to offer an intensive 12-week long parenting class. A Parent’s Guide to Changing Destructive Adolescent Behavior Class (CDAB) is the only parent-training program that addresses the MOST destructive of adolescent behaviors.

This program uses the CDAB behavioral model to address the critical issues parents/caregivers face today and offers step-by-step solutions.  The curriculum is interactive and builds on learned skills each week. Parents/caregivers will be given the opportunity to work in groups to brainstorm, practice applying new ideas, and build support.  Strategies learned in the group will better prepare parents/caregivers to support their child’s social and emotional development.

The program is completely FREE to all parents and caregivers of pre-adolescents and adolescents of the NWLSD community.  Participation is mandatory and classes will be closed after the second week. Childcare (all ages) and dinner will also be provided on a weekly basis.

Families that participate in these workshops will:
• Learn ways to reduce family conflict
• Increase students school attendance rates
• Help students improve school performance
• Find resources to help your family
